St. Martin's Catholic JV Team - 1976


The Ice Men Cometh - 1976....this is the JV basketball team of St. Martin, located in Gbarnga, Bong County. 


Known as “Ice Men”, this team won the 1976 Championship of the Up-Country Junior High School Tournament held in Ganta, Nimba County, Liberia. The Head Coach of this team was Harold McGowan, standing on the far right with the hat. The Assistant Coach was was the late Omulu J. We saw many talented ball players come from up-country, with many of them ending up as superstars among the great players of Monrovia. Bong County gave us its share of talented basketball players. Many of them competed against each other at the 3 top high school rivalries in Bong County: St. Martin's, Gboveh and Gbarnga Methodist.The following are a few of some of the great players that came out of Bong County:
